VINTAGE MARBLE AND BRASS PLAQUE USED AS CHARCUTERIE SERVING PIECE 11”x7”

This item is a vintage marble plaque with a brass shell design, likely dating from the mid-20th century. It is made from a red or pink marble and features a cast brass scallop shell at the top. It is heavy almost 5lbs. From an estate sale and was being used as a charcuterie serving piece. It is in excellent vintage condition not chipped or scratched or stained. These types of plaques were often used as decorative items for the home, particularly in a nautical or coastal decor style. In some cases, marble and shell items were associated with religious symbolism (shells are an ancient Christian symbol of baptism or a journey/pilgrimage), so it could also have served as a religious plaque
